Kettner: “Praise to the team” / Emily Nix scores five points
U18 women's national team wins 2016:18 (5:1; 0:1; 4:0) against Norway in the first game of the 1 IIHF U0 Women's Ice Hockey World Championship Division I in Hungary.
The team led by U18 women's national coach Tommy Kettner initially started the game somewhat cautiously, only to then create more targets and chances from minute to minute. But despite the overwhelming power DEB-Selection, the Norwegians scored the first goal of the game after the German defense was careless.
After the first break, the Germans picked up where they had previously left off and put the Norwegians under increasing pressure. Tabea Botthof was finally able to score the deserved equalizer in the 25th minute with a shot from the blue line and break the spell. A few minutes later, Emily Nix increased it to 2-1, before Kelsey Soccio DEB-Selection was able to put us in front with two more goals.
In the final period, Norway tried everything again, but could not find a way past a well-disposed Johanna May in the German goal. With just under five minutes to go, Emily Nix sealed the final score of 5:1 from Germany's perspective with her third goal of the afternoon.
It will happen tomorrow DEB-Selection at 12.30 p.m. on Japan.
Tommy Kettner, U18 women’s national coach: “We certainly didn't have the best start to the game today, but we came back even better. Praise to the team, who really showed a great, unified performance today. Now it’s important that we carry the momentum into tomorrow’s game against Japan.”
