The women's national team won the second game at the Nations Cup in Füssen with 5:3 (2:0; 1:2; 2.0) against Switzerland and will play against Russia for third place tomorrow at 15.30:XNUMX p.m.
The team led by women's national coach Benjamin Hinterstocker started with commitment and played significantly more games than they did against Finland two days ago. In the 7th minute of the game, Manuela Anwander was able to use a shot from the blue line to give Germany a deserved lead. A few minutes later it left DEB-Selection in the majority with a goal from Andrea Lanzl in front.
In the second half of the game it was the Swiss who kept the tempo high and put increasing pressure on the German backline. But after a beautiful solo by Monika Bittner, the German women's national team was already 3-0 ahead at half the game.
Nevertheless, the Swiss got within one point with two more goals before the final period.
The final third was, as expected, even and hard-fought. The guests tried everything again, but failed again and again because of the good German goalkeeper Franziska Albl. Just under three and two minutes before the end, Lisa Schuster was able to add herself to the list of goalscorers, followed by Kerstin Spielberger a minute later.
The German team will face Russia tomorrow at 15.30:2 p.m., who in turn beat Sweden 1-XNUMX today.
Rebecca Graeve (EC Bergkamen): "We earned the win today through a strong fighting performance. We lost to the Russians in overtime in Finland two weeks ago. Tomorrow it will be time for us to earn the win in this game too."
Sophie Kratzer (ESC Planegg): "We overcame our goal deficiency today and gained confidence in the final stages. We have to maintain that tomorrow against the compact Russians."
