“The Italians are a strong and motivated team,” says BundesYoung talent coach Christian Künast. “It won't be an easy task today.” Künast had seen good approaches in yesterday's opening game against newly promoted Kazakhstan, but there was still some reason for criticism. “After the 2-1 we lost the thread a bit, but then we were more confident again towards the end of the game,” said coach Christian Künast, speaking of a usual difficult game at the start of a tournament. “Of course the boys really want to win. It’s clear that they can get nervous at times.”
Also Maximilian Kammerer (Düsseldorfer EG) still sees potential: “We didn't take advantage of our chances and made life difficult for ourselves with our own mistakes, but the longer the game lasted, the stronger we became. We want to get to the top here and we have to deliver the corresponding performance.”
Yesterday the Italians suffered a bitter 1:10 defeat in their first and so far only game against Norway. Nevertheless, this should not be overestimated: “The Italians will certainly come with a lot of speed today. We have to be ready,” warns Künast.
