Around 30.000 people in Germany actively play ice hockey or work in other roles such as coaches, referees or supervisors. Numerous volunteers also actively support German ice hockey and are like everyone else Fans and friends of ice hockey are an important part of the ice hockey family. This family has always lived a special spirit of solidarity with each other. This is a good signal in difficult times and gives strength to implement the ideas and concepts that are necessary to ensure that ice hockey does not fall behind in the German sports landscape.
It is important and necessary to continue to make the sport attractive and to maintain the performance of ice hockey in a time of growing competition from other sports. The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund is currently making enormous efforts here, which require further support as there are not enough funds for this.
At the extraordinary general meeting on April 18.04.2015, 26, a number of changes were decided due to the strained financial situation of the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund. The entire ice hockey family is making great efforts to position German ice hockey optimally for the future and to make our national teams more competitive again in the medium term. The new sports concept POWERPLAY 2, which is primarily intended to optimize young talent work locally, was widely approved, and now it is time to implement it. An indispensable component of this is the sustainable financial restructuring of the association. DEL and DELXNUMX clubs, associations and state ice sports associations are already making a significant contribution to this. By approving the new statutes, the DEB-Members unanimously decided on April 18.04.2015, 2015 that it would be appropriate to charge a solidarity contribution in the form of an individual license fee valid for one season from each individual player, coach and referee who takes part in organized games. The fee therefore does not represent any additional financial or organizational burden for the individual clubs. Depending on age, from the 16/5 season onwards, an amount of at least €20 (young pupils, young pupils, boys) up to a maximum of €XNUMX (seniors, referees, coaches) plus VAT charged per season. Even if you have multiple functions (player, coach, referee), the license fee is only due once.
We would like to thank the clubs and associations for their broad support, but of course also those who are active. In many conversations it became clear that each individual can and wants to make a small but important contribution. The money will be used in the spirit of POWERPLAY 26 and will primarily be used to support the new club and talent on site. Everyone contributes a small part to promoting German ice hockey both locally and at the top.
Only almost at the same time, but in terms of content independent of the introduction of the individual license, it will be a further innovation for the hockey club DEB give. The hockey club will be open to all active and ice hockey enthusiasts in Germany and will be offered free of charge to all participants until further notice. In addition to the possibility of interactive exchange with one another, there will of course also be information and activities relating to the national teams. In the run-up to the 2017 home World Cup, we want to connect the whole of ice hockey Germany and create a platform. In addition, participants of the hockey club should be able to take advantage of discounts (e.g. attractive discounts when purchasing through partners of the hockey club, right of first refusal on international match tickets, participation in competitions with attractive prizes, and much more), so that all participants of the hockey club receive added value and, in addition, a large community of everyone ice hockey enthusiasts in Germany.
